Translating poetry becomes very serious task which can be done by anyone who is studying foreign language for long period of time. Read Poem Again and Again


It is important to read the poem again and again so people can understand the meaning. They surely have to read it again and again if they want to translate it successfully. They have to make sure that the words become the second nature on their tongue. This way, they will be able to get the poem rhythm. At least ten copies of poem should be written so it can be placed anywhere in the house. It makes them read it again and again. It will help them to get familiar with the grammatical structure in the poem.


Know Poet

The poem cannot be separated from its writer so anytime people want to translate a poem, it is better for them to know the poet better. They can be lucky if they translate the poem from living poet. They just need to write to the poet and ask questions about the poems. They can also ask about the poet life as well because it will play very great role in the creation of the poem. The job can be a little bit difficult when the poet has passed on. All that they can do is just finding out anything about the life of the poet as much as possible.

Stay Close to the Meaning

Meaning is the soul and spirit of the poem. That is why when people are translating it, they have to make sure that they stay close to the meaning. Instead of making the readers impress with the ability for translating words directly, people need to make the readers enjoy the poem. They still have the artistic license which can be used but they should not abuse it. It is important for them to use the meaning so the translation can be clear and graceful. People also have to be wary and also take a deep breath for translating poetry.
