Issues of translation

Issues of translation are so many. But there are several common issues struggled by every translator in this world. The troubles are always coming from everywhere no matter they translate a simple article, documents with technical language, something cultural, or even statement with sword. The issues are included lexical-semantic, syntax, grammar issues, pragmatic, rhetoric, and of course cultural issues. The problem could get worse if there are also administrative issues, problems related to the computer and program as well as the stress itself. Lexical-semantic issues

The first one from issues of translation that commonly faced by translator is the lexical-semantic issue. It can be solved by doing consultation related to the glossaries, dictionaries, terminology banks and of course the experts. Issues that related to the lexical-semantic also include the alternatives of terminology, semantic gaps, antonyms, neologisms, and the contextual synonyms.

Grammatical issues

Grammar can be touted as an uneasy stuff to learn and you will need times to finish in learning it. The
problems related to grammar are such as the temporality questions, the aspectual stuff especially if we talk about the point of view, pronouns, and also the pronoun that should be explicit or not. So the grammar the second issues of translation.

 

Syntactical issues

Pragmatic issues

Pragmatic issues are mostly appeared when you translate a marketing translation. This issue also appears as well as the difference in the using the formal or informal modes by addressing “you”. Pragmatic issue is also close with phrases that tend to be idiomatic, humor, irony, sayings, and even sarcasm. This issue is also included another challenge. For example, in translating the marketing document from English to Bahasa Indonesia, with the specific translation of personal pronoun “you”. In this case the translator should decide which one of “you” that would be more appropriate. The decision is not always clear since it is from issues of translation.
